At Serre Chevalier, everything has been designed to ensure that your learning experience, or your children's, is a calm and gradual one. Areas specially designed for beginners allow you to learn to ski with complete peace of mind.

Get started with confidence at one of our Discovery Areas, located on the snow front or at easily accessible altitudes. These special areas allow you to familiarise yourself with gentle slopes, thanks to short, safe green runs. Each sector, from Briançon to Monêtier, via Chantemerle and Villeneuve, offers a unique and tailored experience.

Dreaming of enjoying the slopes stress-free, surrounded by breathtaking scenery? Here are our tips for easy and enjoyable skiing, perfect for fans of green and blue runs*.

✔ From Briançon to Monêtier
Travel effortlessly from Briançon to Monêtier via the Myrtille - Vallons - Fangeas - Traverse route: an itinerary made up entirely of blue runs.
✔ Briançon Area
With the Rocher Blanc and Croix de la Nore chairlifts, enjoy green and blue runs along with exceptional panoramic views.
✔ Méa Plateau - Villeneuve
A must for Relaxing Skiing: green and blue runs, the new Pré de Jeanne surface lift, and access towards Chantemerle or Monêtier. ⚠ Please note: returning from Monêtier to Villeneuve requires taking the Cucumelle red run.
✔ From Aravet: two easy options

Option 1: Take the Lièvre Blanc green run to reach the Ratier plateau.

Option 2: Forest chairlift → Fangeas blue run → Clot Gauthier chairlift to access the Méa plateau.

For the return journey, take the Marteau blue run to reach the Aravet gondola.

💡 You can filter the piste map in the Serre Chevalier mobile app to display only green and blue runs. Tap the little skier icon in the bottom-right corner of the piste map and select "Beginner" 😉

Large Méa discovery area

New Pré de Jeanne ski lift

Thanks to the Pontillas cable car in the Villeneuve sector, skiers can reach the Méa sector at an altitude of 2,255 metres in just 8 minutes.

A 1.9-hectare beginners' area has been created for the 2024-2025 season, with a large 150-metre-long covered carpet, enabling beginners to ski easily and safely up the gentle slope of the Méa plateau. This covered carpet offers a number of advantages :

  • It protects skiers from the elements and the cold.

  • It provides easy access to the green and blue pistes on the Méa plateau.

  • It makes it easier for beginners to progress, allowing them to repeat exercises without tiring themselves out.

  • It increases the transport capacity of the ski area by reducing queues.

As part of the ongoing development of this beginners' area, the 450-metre Pré de Jeanne ski lift with reel has been installed for the 2025-2026 season, in addition to the existing Clot and Méa ski lifts.

The Easyboarder complements this beginners' offer with a fun course specially designed for skiers and snowboarders of all ages and levels, especially beginners or those who want to progress gently: it is a track that winds around the plateau, punctuated by woops (small waves of snow) and banked turns.  It is one of the events in the Serre Chevalier Grand Prix.

The development of this new high-altitude beginners' area is part of a strategy to adapt to climate change, guaranteeing good conditions for learning to ski for years to come while reducing the need for artificial snow.

What is the 1-day / 5-entry or 6-day / 30-entry pass?

Ski lift pass

The the 1-day / 5-entry or 6-day / 30-entry pass  is perfect for skiers making progress or those who want to explore at their own pace.

1 day with 5 lift passes or 6 days with 30 lift passes, spread over the period as you wish.  The price is the same for each package. Ski lifts are not included in the price.

The applicable rate (start/end of season or season) is that on the 1st day of validity, whatever the duration.
All Ticket prices (excluding Insurance) are valid for the entire 2025-2026 winter season and include all taxes at the current VAT rate, i.e. ten per cent (10%) of the price excluding taxes. (Art. 279b quater of the French General Tax Code).
Nevertheless, any increase in VAT above a rate of 10% of the price excluding taxes will automatically be reflected in the price including all taxes of orders sent from the date of the said change.
