This winter, the Serre Chevalier ski area is rolling out its Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) ski pass on a large scale, transforming skiers' smartphones into genuine ski passes.
This technology allows completely contactless access to the area's 59 ski lifts. Following a successful trial last winter, Serre Chevalier has become the first major ski resort in Europe to roll out this innovative solution across the board.
Thanks to the BLE connectivity built into the new gates, access to the lifts is hands-free, with no need to handle or present your phone, for a smoother and more reliable experience, especially during busy periods.
This innovation is the result of collaborative work with the Italian company ALFI, a pioneer in access control systems for ski resorts. For more than three years, the teams worked together to design, test and optimise this new generation of gates in real-world conditions.
💡 Remember to activate Bluetooth and location services on your smartphone beforehand.

* BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) is a low-power radio technology that allows a smartphone or compatible device to exchange information over short distances with a gate without visual contact or any specific gestures. BLE consumes very little energy on a smartphone, and its impact is marginal compared to the screen or mobile network.
